Website Basics:
Below is some simple information in order to help you create a website for your business.

Domain Registration
: Most commonly known as YourDomainName.com, a domain name is an Internet address for your business.

FOR EXAMPLE: A furniture business named FurniturePlus, would likely want a domain name like, FurniturePlus.com.

Once you have decided on a domain name and submitted it to the website designer. He/She will make a search to find out if the domain name hasn't already been registered by someone else. If the name is available, and registration has been agreed upon, a yearly fee shall be charged, and you shall own your domain name for that period. Additional years may also be purchased.

Domain Hosting: Domain hosting is required in order to have the files which create your website, viewable on the Internet. The host will charge a monthly fee in order to have this service available to you.

Creating Your Website: For a website designer to create a website, many aspects of design are taken into consideration. If your business does not have a plan or idea of how the website should look, you must help the website designer determine what will be needed to create the website. A few things to consider are:

Pages: How many pages will be required in order to accomplish the website?

Colors: While computers have a variety of different colors, a determination of what colors shall be used for text and background.

Fonts: Text fonts should be determined. Examples of fonts are:
EXAMPLE (Verdana),
EXAMPLE (Courier),
EXAMPLE (Arial),
EXAMPLE (Georgia),
EXAMPLE (Garamond).

Logo's / Pictures / Photo's: Will any be used, if so, how many? What size will they be? Will you need any animations? Do you have a business logo? While all these help in determining how your website shall operate, you and the website designer should discuss these issues.

Contact: The creation of your website will require continuing contact between you and the website designer. The website designer shall contact you with updates to what has been accomplished and see if you are in agreement to what has been created.

Costs: Determining the cost of creating your website should be done before actual creation begins. Usually the website designer will ask for an initial payment to begin the creation of the website, and a final payment shall be made once both parties are in agreement that the website has been completed.
